Move better, feel better with Physio + Pilates Noosa

Pilates Mat Classes For Health & Fitness

If you are not injured, Pilates is an incredible preventative practice, even if you’re not currently super active. Many injuries occur because of an imbalance in the joints, connective tissues, or muscular system.

Pilates trains the whole body and works on correcting those muscle imbalances and improving motor control. The mind-body connection is essential. The practice of Pilates can help you become more in tune with your body and create a better awareness that can eventually prevent injury.

Pilates is one of the most low impact and gentle exercises you can do, which makes Pilates accessible to all ages and fitness levels. It is a feel good exercise for every body.

It is also the exercise used by olympic athletes, footballers, golfers etc to help them keep their bodies strong, flexible, and injury-free.

Beginners especially can feel comfortable in these classes that care about how you feel, not just how you look.

Buff Bones Class — Physiotherapy in Noosa, QLD

Buff Bones® History

Buff Bones® was created by renowned bone health and exercise practitioner Rebekah Rotstein, who was just 28 when diagnosed with osteoporosis. She found that people with osteoporosis and osteopenia (its precursor) were often uncertain of what type of exercise to do and concerned about safety.

Osteoporosis and Osteopenia are becoming more prevalent as the population ages. These conditions cause low bone density and create an increased risk of fractures in the hip, spine and wrist.

The Buff Bones® system is based on a research supported design and combines Pilates, strength training, functional movement and therapeutic exercise. Using techniques that aim to align the joints, enhance posture and balance and prepare the body for optimal loading of the bones, which is how they strengthen. Buff Bones® can be for anyone who has osteoporosis or wants to prevent it.

According to the International Osteoporosis Foundation, exercise is one of the most essential strategies for building and maintaining strong bones and preventing falls and fractures: “Targeted exercise is especially important in that it can help to build muscle strength, improve balance and posture, and maintain bone mass.”

These classes are gentle, yet challenging, for any level of fitness.

Michelle is also a licenced “Buff bones” Instructor, which, combined with her Physiotherapy knowledge, enables her to teach these classes specifically designed to be of benefit to those with low bone density (osteoporosis and osteopenia). The classes combine Pilates, strength training, functional movement and therapeutic exercise, in a challenging, yet safe, and fun class.

We like to call these classes “Better bones, Better balance”
